Just had someone reference TD:INT ratio again on a QB & it got me thinking again. I had person tell me my 1 yr in NY I had the most completions to the 1 yrd line in the NFL (no idea if there is true) that became rushing TDs! So let’s just say I had 6 of those & they became TDs, I would have had 15 TDs & 6 INTs in 9 games, on pace for 28–11 season! Not bad at that time & I wouldn’t have been seen as terrible that year! Funny how little details can skew how a player played! I think about how ppl now think 16 INts is a lot in a season - but that’s really 1 mistake a game!! ONE!!! I watch every NFL QB make multiple mistakes a game, but may INTs are dropped or their throws are so bad they can’t be intercepted! For an accurate guy that always put ball in vicinity of WR, that means vicinity of defenders also & a slight miss will mean more INTs if caught than another! But again QBs are defined by the result too often without someone seeing the whole picture or watching each result! It’s why I watch the film and use that to define a player - great TD:INT ratio could be more bc someone won’t throw the ball & attack certain OPPs, they settling for more checkdowns throughout a game, take more sacks instead of completions but also limits interceptions, so which outweighs the others! Food for Thought, bc my mind is in evaluation mode at this time of year!
