Do something uncomfortable today to improve your mental toughness. Take a cold shower. Run five miles. Conquer a fear. Living in constant comfort and luxury makes you mentally weak as well as lazy, ungrateful, and needy.
As a parent, there’s hardly anything you can say from the bleachers that actually helps your child play better, so you might as well limit yourself to cheering, and let the coach do the coaching.
Instead of just telling teammates to work harder, show them how to work hard. Instead of just telling them to have a great attitude, display one. Before you can lead them with your words, you have to lead them with your actions. BE the kind of teammate you want. Lead by example!

HS Athletes...your job on campus is to bring students together. Be a role model, not the funny guy! Don't be the bully...be the dude that stops the bullies, and helps people look forward to coming to school instead of dreading it. Go the extra mile to help others!
Parents...your role at games.
1. Support your son
2. Support your son's teammates.
3. Support your son's coaches.
4. Treat the opponent, their fans and the umpires with respect.
5. Encourage other parents to do the same.
6. Let the coaches do the coaching.
Remember, YOU can get your son eliminated from scholarship offers by acting like a damn fool. Scouts and Recruiters are scouting you as well as your son.

The answers to those questions will tell you a lot.
One thing missing in so many programs today is the development of leadership. Kids have a hard time leading because they’re used to having adults control everything. We have to give up some control for leadership to develop. It’s hard for many adults, but very necessary for kids!
