Plenty of advancements have been made in player development at the amateur level. However, the single area I believe players are currently lacking in the most is that of situational recognition and problem-solving.

Maybe the kid was in the middle of a workout. Maybe you’re recruiting a rare kid who doesn’t want the phone to be a distraction 24/7. Mailbox full….red flag. Not returning messages….red flag. Do not disturb…do not jump to conclusions.

The coach in black is a bitch. If your punk kid shoves a kid, and then sprints at him to tackle him and then an opposing coach has to push your kid away because you can’t control your players then shake his hand for handling your business. Don’t go tough guy on him.

That further development isn’t needed. That does not mean the current situation is flawless. What it does mean is the process is sped up incredibly through more access to better information for the general public that they never had decades ago. I could go on and on on this….
