The internal trunk/core muscles are our stabilizers. And you don’t see them working as dramatically, so people think they aren’t getting a workout. There’s more focus on our superficial muscles when we workout but the internal muscles need some love too. This is the Pilates focus.

The big stuff: e.g., regularly doing compound (multi joint) exercises with progressive overload, moderate pace and high intensity interval training etc are made possible for decades longer if you also do the small stuff: keep your lower back, knees, rotator cuffs and neck strong.

Love Classical Music and Movies 🎺🎻💖🎥🎬
Many films have great endings. But The Last of the Mohicans is the kind of movie where the final scene almost surpasses the entire film itself. The last 15 minutes are pure cinema: music, silence, mountains, sacrifice, and tragedy unfolding with barely any dialogue. The “Promentory” score pushes every emotion to its limit. It feels like more than just the end of a few characters — it feels like the end of an entire world. A beautiful, heartbreaking, and haunting ending that stays with you long after the movie is over.

@AlexTran677026 Yes 🙌 this whole movie was a masterpiece but that ending was the most profound and well done of any other movie I have ever seen.

@QuantumGuard17 But is this beef sourced domestically? Or is it from the burned down areas of rainforest in Brazil where they produce all the questionable fast food beef? Slap a pretty label on something but our domestic beef producers deserve some love.

🚨 IT’S OFFICIAL: Steak ‘N Shake is SWITCHING the entire chain’s sourcing to grass fed and grass finished beef as of June 1, the Chief MAHA Officer confirms MAHA IS WINNING! What a great American company 🇺🇸 👏🏻 “We’re going seed oil free and looking at any and all opportunities to remove seed oils.” “One big move that we will be making come June 1st, we’ll be rolling out grass-fed, grass-finished beef to all locations nationwide.”

Starting June 1, we’re doing things better at Steak n Shake — all our beef will come straight from pasture-raised cattle. This beef will be 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, making us the only American burger joint serving the healthiest kind of beef.

@PBDsPodcast Isabell Brown had an interesting segment a couple years ago. She showed that if we adjust currency for current value and compare it to what was happening in the Great Depression, we’ve actually been in a quiet recession for quite some time.

Finally caught up on the California governor debates. What a waste of time! Simple questions get 3 types of replies: Aspirational nonsense, focus on the errors of others, or tap dance maybes. I really think there should just be yes, no, or pass buttons to answer these.

PLEASE recommend some movies that feel like therapy, please. Movies that make you realize so many things in life. Movies that make you cry so hard, that are gut-wrenching yet cleansing, and that gently remind you of your most vulnerable side

“Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshiping.” —Hubert Reeves Most important quote of all time. No hyperbole.

“There are no strong men, there are no beautiful women. At least you can die knowing this. And you will have the only possible victory.” Bukowski was a soul too poetic for the corrupted world of man. My take is he speaks of awareness in a world of mendacity.

October 21, 1949. Huxley writes from Wrightwood, California. He tells Orwell: the boot-on-the-face model is unstable. Violence creates friction. Friction creates martyrs. Martyrs create resistance. It is too costly to sustain forever. The smarter path: make the cage comfortable enough that no one looks for the door. His prediction, written 77 years ago: "The lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging and kicking them into obedience."

The whole point of viewing morning sunlight is that it organizes your energy in time— which lets you organize what to do when across the day, and places you in the best possible stance to deal with any unanticipated demands on your energy. That’s why it’s the foundation.

@hubermanlab Love it. Peace exists in the space between feeling an emotion and acting on that emotion. "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” (Viktor Frankl)
