Student finance is landing this week, but for many medical students, the struggle continues.  Longer courses, sky-high rent, and limited work options mean some are skipping essentials and falling into debt just to stay in medicine.

In our countdown to 2026 we’re running through some of our campaign highlights. The amazing work of our @BMAStudents has highlighted how being a medical student has now become unaffordable – forcing many to drop out of uni all together.

Residents have spoken. Students: Support them! Strikes will go ahead on the 17th-22nd of December after resident doctors in England overwhelmingly reject @wesstreeting's offer. 83.2% (29,215) voted against the offer.

There is a feeling amongst my colleagues that they have been let down - that the promise of a well-paid, secure and enjoyable job for life isn't the reality. I don't regret my decision, but I'm not sure I would make the same one again. theguardian.com/commentisfree/… @devisridhar
