🎄 Step aboard HMS Warrior and find her dressed as she was in the Victorian navy: soft lamplight, evergreens, and trees standing where generations of sailors gathered. These decks have carried laughter, duty and hope, and the glow she wears now feels woven into that long memory.

The Restoration of HMS Implacable. Painting by Robert Borlase Smart (1881–1947). NMM, Greenwich, London (ID: BHC3415) HMS Implacable began her life as Duguay-Trouin, a French Téméraire-class 74-gun third rate launched in 1800. Though she survived Trafalgar, she fell into British hands soon afterwards at the Battle of Cape Ortegal. Entering Royal Navy service under her new name, she took part in the Baltic campaign of 1808, notably in the capture of the Imperial Russian 74-gun ship Vsevolod during the Anglo-Russian War. She later served as a training vessel and, in time, became the Royal Navy’s second-oldest ship after HMS Victory, Nelson’s Trafalgar flagship. When the Navy finally scuttled her in 1949, she went to her end flying the French and British colours side by side.

✍️ Outside @NatMuseumRN, you’ll find bricks covered in initials, dates and symbols. Marks left by sailors and dockyard workers centuries ago. Portsmouth is known for street art, but these are the city’s oldest signatures. orlo.uk/Gsj0L

Some people will tell you that the Mary Rose never made it out of the harbour, but she was actually well travelled, at least for a ship in Henry VIII's navy. This map shows some of the Mary Rose's more notable destinations - any near you? #Museum30 #Maps maryrose.org/discover/histo…

A new-to-me model kit acquisition, this 1970 vintage Lindberg “Captain Kidd Pirate Galleon” which was a reboxing of the 1965-issue Wappen Von Hamburg. I’m such a sucker for vintage box art like this!

On this day in 1982, HMS Invincible returned to the UK from service in the Falklands War to a rapturous reception in Portsmouth. Some extraordinary photos show the flotilla of boats and the crowds that turned out to welcome Invincible and her crew home. 🇫🇰🇬🇧 #Falklands43
