the best solution to a problem is eliminating the conditions that create that problem rather than adding another solution that creates new unique problems

@1Marc It's possible to choose stability and web standards. I wouldn't blame the very stable JavaScript languages and runtimes for problems created by opting into transpiler based solutions that, by their nature, opt out of stability.

After upgrading dependencies on the simplest Astro site in the world, my site no longer deploys to Netlify. 😢 ... this is why people hate modern JS ecosystem.

Netlify is the only place outside of Vercel where Next can be deployed on a serverless front-end cloud with support for all the advanced features. Today we're joining Open Next and starting to share our expertise with the broader community to help make Next run on more platforms.
Netlify@Netlify

🤝 We're moving our open-source Next.js adapter to the OpenNext GitHub organization and will begin collaborating across providers, like @Cloudflare and @SST_dev, to make sure Next.js runs well everywhere. bit.ly/40m6I9z

@flybayer before arc.codes existed I found 1. packaging and deployment was difficult 2. local dev wasn't well supported 3. streaming logs was tricky we fixed all that years ago now however.

Isn't it funny that we use the term Server Side Rendering as if it's a new thing when really that was just called Web Development 15 years ago?

I was happier when the #Canucks were bad and I didn't care, and I can feel myself healing already and returning to that preferable baseline.

@holman I'm glad we get to see this play out after years of claims how much better it would be. Clearly it isn't better but sometimes folks need to learn the hard way. Sucks as a customer tho.

@munawwarfiroz I think it's fine if you want more complexity just saying there are major tradeoffs (and plenty of options for non deterministic computers already)

@brianleroux I think this decision should be left to devs to measure and decide. Mostly I'd run memory/cpu intensive stuff in isolation. But stuff that mostly waits on (non blocking) I/O, I'd run those concurrently

Cloud Run and Scaleway serverless containers (a comparatively small cloud provider) supports concurrency upto 80 concurrent requests per instance and can scale instances in 300ms! AWS is sleeping to the competition. "Your margin is my opportunity"? Yup!

compute isolation is a good idea but nothing beats learning why the hard way 😁
