Festival of Literature

Happy World Book Day! A wonderful day to pick up a book and start reading, or even have a go at writing your own book. Schools may also want to revisit our Festival events with some amazing authors, illustrators, storytellers and more which are available to watch on replay.

Having been knitting since October, a group of Prep School pupils have created 6 amazing large blankets from the combination of knitted squares, which will be distributed to those in need through @knitforpeace. For many, this was the first time they have ever tried knitting!

A HUGE thank you to all the authors, illustrators, poets, storytellers and more who joined us for an incredible 2 weeks of celebrating the written and spoken word! To all the schools who tuned in, we hope you had a blast and have been left feeling inspired.

@BSCFestLit @RobertMuchamore This is fantastic. Authors in schools has always been great. Students love to see and hear the real people who create the unreal and amazing places in our imagination. Technology has made this easier and more accessible now and we should have much much(amore) of it in schools. 📚

'This history is all our histories': @BeaumontSchStA students were rapt by @DavidOlusoga's presentation at the @BSCFestLit this week as he talked about Black British history being 'dragged out of the shadows'. An enlightening and thought-provoking session.

@RobertMuchamore thrilled Year 8 pupils today with his wonderful event for our Festival - thank you! Our own Year 8 pupils also greatly enjoyed their book club session.

Our Year 7 students were treated to an inspiring interview with historian and broadcaster @DavidOlusoga during the @BSCFestLit yesterday. Groups across the school have more literary events lined up for this week. Thank you @BSCFestLit! 📚

Our #BookoftheWeek is the incredible 'Black and British: a short, essential history' by @DavidOlusoga - a must read for everyone. Our KS3 History classes are participating in a virtual author event with David Olusoga all this week, with thanks to @BSCFestLit #BlackandBritish
