Spending my afternoon today in Pretoria East looking at and for Boer goats 🐐 to take to Zimbabwe. These are NOT for the presidential scheme 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Zimbabwe had a huge, high quality goat pool that was destroyed during the violent land reform. Male Boer goats weigh around 120 kg, while Hard Mashona village goats weigh 20 kg. The offspring from the two weigh around 60-70 kg. As I said, Zimbabwe used to have a thriving goat farming industry. Hopefully, with the continued importation of Boer goats into Zimbabwe, the industry can bounce back to what it was pre-2000. When I started this business, there was no duty taxes on goats, but Mthuli Ncube slapped a 21% tax (15% Vat, 5 % freight-total invoice value, 1% Insurance (of total invoice value). It means the cost has gone up by 21%.
