Thinking about the narrative that the Commanders have not done enough to help Jayden Daniels: I would have loved to have gotten Jayden Daniels a proven, star Z-receiver too. A big guy on the outside. But he's got a $32 M man on one side and he'll have a top-75 pick the team loves on the other. They think he's a perfect fit who will help a bunch. They also signed one of the top TEs on the market, traded for and gave record money to a left tackle, drafted a right tackle in the first round and completely upgraded their defense. They've also completed changed their scheme and are now going to, correctly, run the offense that makes life easier on the QB and elevates outside weaponry. Have they directly given him an elite weapon on the outside? No. But they have indirectly helped him a ton. I disagree with the notion they haven't done a good job insulating him. Not everything is about WR, and again they have a $32 M receiver and a rookie they're jacked up about so it's not like they're trotting out dudes from the St. Louis Battlehawks. Improving on defense is a great way to help a young QB. Less will be asked of him if they get some short field and are asked to score less. That's another way to help him.

I'm convinced that Grant "Drake Maye" Paulsen wants Jayden Daniels to fail... If this were Drake Maye with the same roster we have, he'd be screaming for better weapons in the backfield and at #1 Wide Receiver!

@ThaBrentster @GrantPaulsen Chig will be big as well. And while we might still be looking for a bonafide stud on the outside opposite Terry, the WR is certainly in better shape this spring compared to last. Plus the west coast offense will just be better for this personnel…but I’d like to see another piece

@BShirbach @GrantPaulsen They were definitely reaches but the point is that they dont get any grace in drafting a 3rd round WR as the only piece to help Jayden next year. Like, cmon!!

@ThaBrentster @GrantPaulsen Yeah the only two players I’d say they reached in would be Sinnott and McCaffery…they were surprising picks…but going into the 2025 Williams was widely regarded as a top 3WR in the country. His hamstring and awful QB play are why his stock dropped, but the pick was stellar

@TheDistrictNFL I think anyone who appreciates professional analysis of prospects understands he’s truly a force multiplier. Quite possibly the best athlete at that position in the entire league. Exciting times

Maybe I’m in a bubble. But it seems like too many in this fanbase don’t understand just how good of a prospect Sonny was/is. The guy is a monster, and there’s a REALLY good chance he’s talked about as one of the few elite defenders within the next 2-3 years.

@Tiller56 Yeah but I don’t think they’re done. And while they have work to do, the Chig signing is going to be really big, as is the decision to draft Williams. That said, looking at the last few SB winners, it’s clear that strong defenses is driving the top teams, so our moves make sense

Here’s how I look at this. What would Howie do? The Eagles have a MID QB yet will do whatever they can to try and make their MID guy less MID. Commanders have a future superstar and IMO haven’t done enough to help him. Imagine if WE gave JD what Howie has given his MID???
Disco@discoque92

If you “don’t think the Commanders did enough to help Jayden”…what would you have wanted them to do? …draft Tyson over Styles? … trade next year’s picks to move up? …over pay for Pierce?

I’m excited for Daronte Jones defense but I really don’t get the Luvu lovefest right now Where’s he play? Inside LB? They paid Leo, Drafted Sunny Edge? They paid Oweh and Chaisson Run stuffer? Is he better than Kinlaw/Payne/Omenihu? Cover guy? Not better than Leo/Sunny

@SaintWah Hard to know if that is true or not Teams put up smoke screens all the time Even if it was 100% true that Washington wanted Delane and KC traded up to get ahead of them I tend to doubt that rattled a team of professionals so much that they didn't address CB for a 3 day period

Something we aren’t talking about is how the Kansas City Chiefs ruined Washington’s real plans, which were to draft Mansoor Delane. The Chiefs jumped ahead of them, knowing WSH intentions, and they never fully recovered when it came to addressing CB for the rest of the draft.

Question of the day for #Commanders fans: What’s in store for Jordan Magee? He could still win a starting spot, be used as a rotational piece, sit another year and start in ‘27 if Luvu isn’t extended, find his future on the bench, or be traded #RaiseHail

You can see how Athan Kaliakmanis could win a room over in a job interview. Sounds like a high energy guy who’s happy to be in an NFL building. From his media Q&A moments after the Commanders drafted him in the 7th round.
