This work formed part of a programme with the BUMP1&2 trials which were out last week and underpinned a recent successful DPhil for @Boski_93 @BJOGTweets @LucyChappell2 @jimgthornton @AnastasiaSMihai @NIHRresearch

This suggests that recommendations to use automated testing (often unavailable in the community) don't add to visual testing and that given test performance, perhaps longitudinal testing by (higher risk) women might be a sensible way forward (repeating tests improves performance)

More work is needed to understand if different protocols for measurement and/or antenatal care with self-monitoring might unlock the potential of self-monitoring in pregnancy. 7/7

Delighted that both BUMP trial papers are out today. This is BUMP1 which tested whether self-monitoring of BP plus telemonitoring via an app plus usual care vs usual care alone led to earlier detection of hypertensive pregnancy. 1/7 jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

Future work might assess whether different monitoring regimes or organisational interventions combined with self-monitoring might unlock the potential of self-monitoring of BP during hypertensive pregnancy. 6/6
