@PopePiusIXStan @surskitmaxxing @ATIF_Podcast If we are going based on that criteria, then Mormonism also has different, unofficial explanations for those questions too. But I would agree that less philosophizing has been done in Mormonism overall and there are less main-stream answers to those questions given its recency.

@PopePiusIXStan @surskitmaxxing @ATIF_Podcast I'd argue that what you are referring to are actually philosophical explanations that many hold within Catholicism and Orthodoxy, but the ideologies themselves aren't official church doctrine and different explanations and ideologies are still acceptable beliefs to hold.

@surskitmaxxing @PopePiusIXStan @ATIF_Podcast I mean, literally every religion has a point where there isn't really an explaination for why certain things exist - they just are. Even going beyond religion, science doesn't have an explanation for why the universe exists or why laws of nature are the way they are, etc.

@PopePiusIXStan @ATIF_Podcast “Atheist” is definitely a dumb and inflammatory label, but it is rather striking how LDS theology seems to have a god-shaped hole. We just kind of… happened… to exist as intelligences. Alongside the universe. And eternal moral laws. And a limited God

@muscleforlife Why in the world would I be upset if my patient was able to lose weight through diet alone? Lol That would be great - the problem is it's easier said than done for most people.

DOCTORS HATE THIS ONE WEIRD TRICK: Look up the average caloric intake of someone on Ozempic. Eat that amount. Experience the same calorie deficit. Lose weight.

I could take John Dehlin's claim that he loves the Mormon Church more seriously if he weren't gleeful when people leave and hadn't built a small fortune on a podcast that routinely claims that the church and its claims are false...and writing essays that the church is false.

@daoo100 While it may not be the most common sign, the only time I've seen this in practice was when contractions stopped and we couldn't feel baby's head in the pelvis anymore. Fetal heart rate was fine, though Mom was in a lot of pain.

"I got in trouble because I was speaking outside of my scope of practice and well beyond what my actual education level is." I went through nursing school and took the nutrition course. It doesn't compare to what I've learned in year one of med school
🩺 Jude RN 🩺@Rockenjud

Got in trouble again for telling a patient with cancer to cut down on sugars, carbs, junk food, eat healthy, organic food. I was told I'm a nurse not a nutritionist or dietician. Ok Felicia but in my nursing program I took more the 4 days of nutrition classes then medical students take. That alone makes me more qualified then a doctors nutrition advice

Since I am often asked about my conversion from Mormonism to Catholicism, I decided I would just do a thread on it. AMA. Go.

@LonghornJoker @BlackBlessedLDS Fair enough - though I still struggle to see how it makes God unnecessary. I think it's more a difference of necessity. Rather than relying on God to exist at all, in this framework we rely on God to be able to progress in our existence.

I didn’t say it didn’t make logical sense I said it made God unnecessary. At least the view of God always existing, souls always existing…and somehow being of the same species seemed odd to me. The eternal regress view makes more sense…but it doesn’t give you an ultimate explanation

@LonghornJoker @BlackBlessedLDS My thoughts have always been more along the idea that we've always existed, but our progression was limited until God intervened and "organized" our spirits. I guess I fail to see where that makes God unnecessary. Did it not make logical sense to you before you were Catholic?

@BlackBlessedLDS Some versions of Mormonism certainly wouldn’t be victim to what I said here. Such as if you were organized by God out of preexisting matter or intelligence. But in that case you wouldn’t be eternal.

Disappointing to have the season end this way, but not feeling as down as maybe I expected. AJ was incredibly complimentary about BYU and his experience after the game. He will be a great ambassador for BYU. BYU will have the resources to build a good roster next season, and KY has learned a lot about roster construction.

@DrGithiria That blood type would exclude both the mother and father from being the child's parents unless there was an abnormal inheritance event where the child got both A and B from one parent, lol. Can't get type AB if one of your parents is type OO.

Many people rush for DNA tests, yet a simple blood group test can sometimes rule out paternity immediately. Example:
Mother – Group O
Child – Group AB
Alleged father – Group O That man cannot biologically be the father. Blood groups can exclude paternity!

Leftovers from last night: BYU's loss was BYU's first this season when leading at halftime (16-1) and snapped a 25-game win streak when leading at the break. It was the first loss this season with Keba Keita pulling down 10+ rebounds (6-1). BYU's two losses to Houston were by a combined 18 points. BYU was outscored in the two games by 15 in second-chance points. BYU scored 66 points in each of its two losses to Houston.
