Though Troy Parrott became our latest World Cup Qualifying here last November almost single handily drag us into next months huge playoffs… Before that moment came this goal from James McClean against Wales which secured a World Cup playoff in 2018. Duffy even opened the scoring in the 6th minute, but what followed was a nightmare performance where we were outclassed and outfought eventually losing 1-5 That aside from the Henry handball, is my worst memory as an Irish fan. If Ireland somehow do manage to get a World Cup Playoff spot, they will have to beat two teams (not one) to qualify for the finals. 16 teams go for four remaining spots so have to win two one-off games next March. Hopefully something we have to worry about.
