@LEAADFarms @FarmerTheta What energy would you be using to turn the generator in this scenario?
English

@FarmerTheta Has anyone looked at the economics of Running a generator at an ethanol plant selling back to the electricity grid?
English

@Campbellgrain @BDuchek @BantrySeedFarms You mean the event that nearly wiped out most beef producers in Canada? Compared to what is shown in these screen shots for ~4% market access the BSE money seems pretty reasonable. Im not a fan of handouts in general but this is definitely an example of one for SM.

English

@BDuchek @BantrySeedFarms That was a pretty big pay out.... I didn't get any because I was all freezer sales back then. Pretty much cleaned me out. Took years to get back in and start growing again.

English

Sure wish I had some SM quota farm out east so I could cash those big government cheques whenever the market gets rattled a bit. Instead this famished cash cropper will keep cashing $30 cheques for doing farm surveys to keep the lights on. Atleast they are LED's #AgTwitter

English

@MaizeingPete @KeithWells6 @DeanPat57613010 @woody_VA It’s possible it’s small enough that you don’t notice it but it definitely theoretically takes more energy when there’s a phase change.

English

@KeithWells6 @DeanPat57613010 @woody_VA Doesn’t take more energy to warm from 30 to 35 than 35 to 40. The delta T is linear.
English

@MaizeingPete @farmerschneck IPs sound cool until it’s the middle of oct and you can’t get them dry enough for a premium. The yield drag sucks a lot more when they’re worth the same.
English

@farmerschneck I’m pretty confused by the attraction to IP here. Guys tell me there numbers and it just doesn’t math. I mostly think they want to believe the drag is not real. Multiple comparisons says it is. Some have not grown the new GM varieties in the last decade though
English

What’s #ontag planting for soybeans next year. Anyone swapping xtend and E3?
English

@DeereGord @DaveWCooper Arrived just before dark and got straight to work.
English

@Shawridgefarm @gpsontario @AdamJPfeffer @ptx_trimble I spent a summer combing through a lot of data for @MooseAg_Aaron . By the end of that summer I was not very concerned about higher powers stealing our data…..
English

@gpsontario @AdamJPfeffer @ptx_trimble Not really but now if everyone did it 😏......
.......I love how everyone says on crop data "garbage in, garbage out" and generally I think that's more of a benefit for the scalpers now.

@Cheech_Cheech @PioneerSeedsCA What rate was xtendimax applied at?
English

An interesting study at four different locations in middle eastern ON this season comparing the residual weed control differences between Enlist 1 herbicide and Xtendimax. Both were sprayed with Glyphoste tank mix. All 4 locations showed same results @PioneerSeedsCA
English

@ChrisK_Banded So let’s say you need boron but you have high ca levels, does boron need to be applied at a rate that occupies the sorption capacity to be able to have boron that is actually available to the plant?
English

Boron is leachable, but when sorption happens, usually with Ca, it’s likely to stick around, just maybe not in a useful form. Here’s an open access article on sorption and desorption processes involving boron.

How leachable is boron?
English

@Wilsonfarmgrain @12thman76481378 Straight wheat. Put some map and a touch of ams on once beans were off. I don’t trust spreader to do a perfect job with spread pattern once you start using blends and trying to throw 120’.
English

@B_Ribey @12thman76481378 Nice. Straight wheat or did you mix with fert
English

@Bkitch1Bodie @JohnDeere Put the same heading in the cart tractor as the combine and make your shift amounts 6”. Much cheaper and simpler than machine syncs.
English

Ok all you @JohnDeere users. Machine sync for combine to grain cart is

@WxOntario1 When would you expect the 12-20 mm shown along the west coast? Don’t really see that much in any forecasts currently.
English

A look at the week ahead 👇
Warm and mostly dry
Temps will average near normal most of the week (temps in the mid 20s) with a warm up for the weekend (temps in the upper 20s, maybe near 30C)
Another mostly dry week with 2 rain chances (Wed/ Thurs and Sun)
Once again, nothing widespread just some scattered showers/ storms

@wilkjef @14Ram @winfield_united The wind never stops blowing here Jeff. Might have to get mom to start using it in the hand sprayer too so she stops asking why her plants have all cupped up after she assaults every broadleaf in sight with tri-par.
English

@14Ram @winfield_united Stuff works...have one customer uses Masterlock with Ace on wheat...noticeable difference. 👌
English

@farmerlefty @EdJHanson How bad does it burn? Do you try to time right before a rain?
English

@EdJHanson All across the boom. Been doing it for a few yrs. Works great. We put Excellis Max with it. Much quicker then side dresser.
English

@McblainFarms @grahamburton95 @MooseAg_Aaron Always wanted to do it that way. Of course our first year with v-drives was also the first year we didn’t do a corn maze in a while. Certainly would’ve been an improvement over the measuring tape and blade on the weed eater.

English

@grahamburton95 @MooseAg_Aaron 😉. That is correct. We were challenged to create a corn maze for a local orchard. My wife came up with the design and @MooseAg_Aaron made it happen.

English

@JonWilken @WxOntario1 The good news is Wunderground backed off chances and totals this am. Weather network usually seems to be about a day behind them and not nearly as accurate.

The latest 🇨🇦 model is really cranking up the heat for Tuesday/ Wednesday
Widespread temps near/ above 30°C possible across SW #Ontario, upper 20s elsewhere
North shores of Lk #Erie and Ontario may stay a tad cooler with a breeze off the lake
