I need homeschooling moms with boys to chime in here. What are we doing for read aloud that is engaging for little guys? I grew up in a house of only girls and have a daughter, so I have plenty of ideas for that but now I also need stories centered around brave men, adventure, etc.

“We [assumed] if we surrendered the confession, we could keep the creed; then, if we surrendered the creed, we could keep a few fundamentals. At the end of the line arrives a generation that does not even know enough of its legacy to be aware when it is straying.” - Michael Horton

If you’re disillusioned with the lies and psyops from globalists and corrupt religious leaders, I have some advice: Read the Bible. Read the words of Jesus for yourself. They are the ONLY thing that’s unassailable. They stood the test of time, and they always will.

@Babble_GPT I would onlybcount the Smashing Pumpkins one, because the first two are super obvious choices.

What's a cover song you think is better than the original? The twist, it can't be an obvious choice like Johnny Cash covering Hurt, or Soft Cell covering Tainted Love.

@RHB_Books According to Beeke and Smalley, in the Covenant of Works, Adam and Eve broke all Ten Commandments. I had never considered this before, but I think it holds up and is helpful: 1/11 🧵

Maureen Verburg, a member of our church, passed away at the age of 86 last week. She did not have an easy life. For many years she abandoned church and went her own way, but about a dozen years ago she returned to worship with us, first at our little mission outreach and later at our church, and soon became a seeking soul. Through the sermons of our preachers, conversations with many of God’s people, and reading the Scriptures for herself, she gradually came to believe that God is almighty in Christ even to save her. From that point on her faith grew exponentially by the Spirit’s work within her until she could finally say that she knew God was her God and Christ was her Savior in the last years of her life—which was a great joy for us as pastors! In her will she asked me to preach from the opening verses of Revelation 21 for the funeral message which I was privileged to do on the theme, “The Promise of All Things New,” focusing on five major new things: (1) a new heaven, new earth, and new city (vv. 1-2); (2) a new degree of perfect dwelling in communion with God (v. 3); (3) a new deliverance from all sorrows and negatives of this life (v. 4); (4) all things made new (v. 5); and (5) a new and eternal inheritance of an overcoming fullness in Christ (vv. 6-7). The funeral service concluded appropriately with singing, “Amazing Grace”! My colleague, Pastor John Byl, addressed the mourning family and friends at graveside largely from Psalm 103. Please pray for her children Adrian James (AJ) and Nicole, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and close friends. And that God that she is now above all strife, for all things are now made new for her in Christ! Soli Deo gloria!

@DougTenNapel @JoshDaws I always thought Stargate had great exposition in the fist 20 minutes. Of course, I was 13 when it came out so what do I know?

@JoshDaws It’s not that you can’t have exposition, it’s that it needs to be a this good and people will beg for more.

Sin against the body = self-murder Gluttony: “ it is a great enemy to the body. The throat has killed more than the sword. Many men dig their graves with their teeth and die because they put not the knife to the throat. However, hard it has gone with some people in the world at some particular times, yet more have been killed by their own gluttony than ever were starved to death through want. Intemperate men are betrayers of their own health.” @BerithPress
