@monomentary @RCrume123 @LapisArsene Hell even as it got larger with ToAU the crazy lag from the number of mobs, NPCs and Player characters during Besieged was hilarious. Or just the fact you had to fight over EXP party spots as things got so busy at times you had to make do with wherever you could.

@RCrume123 @Babyfacedelezen @LapisArsene Nah bro I was there on PC release in 2003. People were everywhere. I played for years. Cities were hopping, you had to queue up to get to the AH windows. Leveling zones were buzzing with activity. There's a reason people who were there remember it fondly.

I experienced the first few mini (?) dungeons in FFXI. Interesting how you don't queue up and just go inside. Also, I'm just realizing enemies/party members are kind of solid objects. lol FF14 had me assume everything was hollow here too. #FFXI #FinalFantasy

@RCrume123 @LapisArsene The height of its popularity was 2006-2009 where it had 500k+ active players which is huge back than, only games like WoW really beat those numbers.

@Babyfacedelezen @LapisArsene People say ff11 was popular but I don’t think it ever got insanely popular to have millions on at once or the scale of people that play ff14! Tell me if I’m wrong!

@LapisArsene Also mobs that aggro/detect off smell can lose you scent if you run thru water.

4 monster types? Does FF14 do this? In FFXI, there's normal monsters that detect you through sight, but also ones that detect by sound, spell casting, and monsters that will only attack you when you're weak or near-death. #FFXI #FinalFantasy

@LapisArsene Yes actually! I dont know the specific mobs but even in the open world there are some that aggro of sound vs sight.
