Long before the Claret Jug, galleries, and major champions, golf already carried centuries of history. THE OPEN (A Novel) explores the forgotten path that led to the first Open Championship. What surprised me most while researching the book was discovering how deep and unlikely the game’s origins truly are. Back9Books

@Back9Books I love the historical fiction genre and this appears to be right up my alley. Preordered a copy and can’t wait to read it.

Early readers of THE OPEN (A Novel) have been exploring golf’s earliest history and the road to Prestwick in 1860. Grateful for everyone reading, sharing, and sending thoughtful feedback so far. For readers who enjoy historical fiction grounded in real events, the limited hard cover pre-order is now available through Back9Books. #THEOPENANovel #HistFic #GolfHistory #GolfBooks

@TheGolfDivoTee I believe the picture was taken after Gene Sarazen won the 1922 PGA at Oakmont Country Club. The gentleman holding the trophy (along with Sarazen) is W.C. Fownes Jr (son of Oakmont founder Henry Fownes).

THE OPEN (A Novel) — hardcover pre-orders are now open. Before golf’s had a championship, it survived for centuries in windswept villages, royal courts, and along the Scottish coast. THE OPEN traces the game’s 1,500-year journey to Prestwick and the first Open Championship in 1860. Pre-order the limited hardcover edition via Back9Books. #THEOPENANovel #HistoricalFiction #GolfHistory #GolfBooks

Pleasant surprise this morning to have an email from @CrailGolf saying my waitlist number had come up and offered membership to the club. Incredible honor to be part of the 7th oldest club in the world and an Old Tom design. Fife roots are taking shape nicely. See you in June.
