Worst case scenario… since 2016 Trump has insulted and alienated US friends and allies including NATO… Trump does all he can to align with Putin… he brags how he gets along with Putin, Xi, Kim, MBS, etc… Trump wants authoritarian rule… authoritarian world order… authoritarian countries are aligning against democracies… Trump is aligning with the authoritarians… Putin aligns with Iran… Trump, Putin and Netanyahu are the current axis of evil… strange because Putin aligns with Iran… but they all play both sides… Trump gets played by both… Trump and Hegseth have purged a lot of top leadership in the military… Trump has purged leadership from national security, intelligence and the state department… He’s taking us to war with a weakened military with incompetent leadership and inadequate preparation… with no authorization from congress and no support of the American people... meanwhile behind the scenes… while he works with Putin, who is aligned with Iran… he’s taking us to war, where Putin, Iran, Israel and China are the winners… US and democracies the losers…

I wish Trump could praise leaders of our democratic allies just half as much as he fawns over autocratic leaders like Xi and Putin.

I think this is right. But who is responsible for our weakness? And no, its not Trump's weakness. It is the weakness of the USA. China knows we gave up our manufacturing base to them, all for a few GDP points. China is ascendant, and we have damaged ourselves with ridiculous DEI and immigration policies. This is absolutely the fault of the trash leadership we've had in this country for the last 40 years.

I’m struck by how often Trump referred to Xi as his “friend” and a “great leader.” Xi Jinping, chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, is a dictator. He also offered no such reciprocal praise for Trump. That asymmetry makes Trump appear in a visibly weaker position.
