A few years ago, I tried to help out a family member who was having trouble, alternating between renting and homelessness. He had a job, and I told him I’d help him with his finances. When we met up, he was wearing a new pair of Jordans. When I delved into his spending, I found he was renting all his furniture, his TV, and a video game system from Rent-A-Center. He ate fast food every day. I explained to him why that was such a bad idea. I told him how I get most of my furniture from Goodwill and garage sales. Told him rich people don’t wear new Jordans. I even showed him how much his money would be worth in 30 years if he invested the money he was giving to Rent-A-Center. His response? “Sorry, I need nice furniture and I need to look good.” These are the people blaming the rich for their problems.

@EWErickson I simply cannot understand why Georgians of any color or creed don't seem to like extremely wealthy, smug white women, whose sole belief in life is that they know what is best for everyone else.

People know Jen Jordan is a Democrat. She was their Attorney General nominee 4 years ago. Jen Jordan's problem is that even Democrats hate Jen Jordan and think she's too much of an AWFUL (affulent white female urban liberal) for Georgia.

@EWErickson Atlanta did not burn down & the situation was controlled after things were going outside of protest. As mayor she built a city better than any mayor before her could have dreamed of, she created jobs, lowered taxes & made Atlanta the envy of the whole world.

The Democrats have just nominated for Governor the woman who presided over the first burning of Atlanta since the Civl War, whose own constituents turned on her so much that she could not run for re-election as Mayor of Atlanta. Law and order is going to be a big issue now.

Calling everyone you disagree with “far right” has destroyed the meaning of the term. I’m sick of seeing serious labels abused to smear ordinary people with legitimate concerns. In 2015, before Brexit, over 50% of the country was concerned about immigration. Does that make half the country “far right”? Throwing these labels around is reckless, dishonest, and damaging to public debate.

What you may not appreciate if you are not from Georgia is that after @SBA_Kelly lost her Senate race in the 2021 runoff, instead of playing a victim or grifting, she created a grassroots operation in Georgia called @GreaterGeorgia to mirror the door-to-door and GOTV efforts that Stacey Abrams had deployed. And Greater Georgia has turned into a machine that gets out Republicans and picks up the slack while the state GOP argues over flat-earth conspiracies.

As a reliable straight-ticket Democratic voter, I nonetheless strongly endorse our judicial incumbents in the Georgia races today. None of the ones on the ballot are hyper-partisan and they are very good at their actual job, which is deciding cases.
