Badagry, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria, has roots tracing back to around 1425–1730s, settled by Awori Yoruba from Ile-Ife and Ogu (Egun) migrants from Benin and Ghana fleeing wars. It became a major slave trade port in the 18th–19th centuries, exporting captives to the Americas via European traders. Key sites include the Point of No Return and heritage museums. It was an early center for Christianity (first mission in 1842) and later shifted to palm oil trade. Today, it's known for tourism, fishing, and coconuts. Sources vary on exact founding dates.

😍 If it's not Badagry, where else can it be? 🤔

Where would you rather be this December? Wouldn’t you love to see Badagry, the serene beach, the first storey building in Nigeria, the slave relics, the slave route, the point-of-no-return, etc? You’d love it and remember to take lots of pictures. You’d be glad you did. 🤗🤗🤗🤗 #proudlyBadagry #proudlyBadagrian
