I do not believe the Royal Family should be abolished — but I do believe it needs to evolve. It should move towards a model more like some European heads of state: less distant, more accountable, and more in tune with the people it represents. I believe Prince William understands that and would be prepared to lead in that direction. However, I am deeply disappointed in King Charles III. At a time when the country is looking for clarity and leadership, choosing not to give even a simple Easter message feels like a failure to recognise the importance of the role he holds. Yes, it may not be long-standing tradition — but leadership is not about hiding behind tradition. It is about reading the moment and responding to it. He was crowned as Defender of the Faith, not “Defender of Faith.” That distinction matters. It reflects a duty to uphold and visibly support the Christian foundations of this country, especially at key moments like Easter. This is not about hostility — it is about expectation. People want to feel represented, not overlooked. The monarchy can still have a future, but it needs to listen, adapt, and reconnect. Right now, it feels out of step — and that needs to change.
