My AI-assited process for creating opinion pieces on BadgerNews: I come up with an idea I want to explore. Claude goes on a deep research assignment based on my parameters. If the data tells a story, I give Claude a couple-paragraph outline — how I want the article organized, the argument I'm making, the specific data points I want hit and how I want them hit. Claude gives me a first draft with sources. I then ask Claude to verify all referenced material didn't originate behind a paywall that still exists. (Had to pull some really juicy anti-Fickell quotes from high school coaches out of my latest "8 Wins or Bust" article for exactly this reason.) I open every link and confirm none of the claims were hallucinated. Then I proofread and edit — swapping out word choices, restructuring syntax where it doesn't sound like me, and fine-tuning the argument. Then I publish with a source list. Am I perfect? No. I'll make mistakes. If someone flags one, I'll correct it. That does not include AI photo artifacts — I don't care about those. What I do care about is your privacy. I turned off Google Analytics (which Netlify prompts you to enable by default) so that you are not gratuitously tracked because you committed the crime of wanting to read some Wisconsin Badger content. I also care that people understand what the website is and is not so that I can publish content ethically within my lane. Both are covered in the site footer and the About page. This process is how I put out three well-researched articles with my voice yesterday on a whim, redlined four contracts, refreshed some templates, performed a couple regulatory risk assessments, bought a new guitar, and went to the park with my wife and kids. All in one day. So if your reaction is "AI wrote that" — that is partly true. I think this is what responsible and effective AI use looks like in 2026. I would encourage you to explore what AI can do for your work and your life. The tools are there for you to experiment with.

For the folks who don't like Greg Gard, he's going to be here until he retires. He's going to have a legitimate excuse every year.

@BadgerNewsNet Seems we've taken a moneyball approach to bb and were never going to match JB's market value if he looked elsewhere. I hope this frees up $ to retain Winter

1. Blackwell is probably being offered millions more than we can afford; 2. If it wasn't already obvious: Wisconsin is investing disproprtionately into football.

Don't be so defeatest on hoops. This is an exciting offense to play for, and WIsconsin isn't rich, but it isn't poor. It'll be interesting to see what Gardo can assemble.

Right wingers aren’t more entertaining, and there certainly are NOT that many more of them than us on X. Therefore it’s quite fucking OBVIOUS that the platform is RIGGED to minimize dissent and to amplify government positive messaging. The fact that Elon’s account is so OUTSIZED shows that he has ZERO HUMILITY and that he really only cares what HE has to say / is not trying to listen to ANYONE ELSE. This place has so much potential - even with the negatives I’ve mentioned, there are millions of great people on here. How do we fix it when the owner is a fucking megalomaniac!??

What a pathetic place X has become. It isn't even that it's mostly right wing accounts, it's that it's all political rage bait Where are the ordinary celebrities: music, film, sports, comedy, science? The fun stuff This site is political brain rot with a right wing bias. Boring

These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.

It can't be *that* hard to create a version of Twitter/X that removes some of the groupthink but still promotes high-quality engagement and content. And is a portal to the rest of the internet rather than a closed ecosystem, always one of the good things about pre-Elon Twitter.

Part of it is that Elon pushes out push notifications for these alt-right propaganda slop accounts. If you create a new account on mobile, follow no one, and have your location set as US, you will almost certainly get notifications about Nick Sortor, Eric Daugherty and Jackson Hinkle tweets within the first two weeks.

I started my original Twitter account in 2009 to talk about football. I only tweeted about football, I only followed football related accounts and I only commented on and participated in discussions about football. My entire timeline was football. Once Elon bought Twitter, I would randomly get a Benny Johnson or Charlie Kirk, etc post popping up in my timeline. Daily. No matter how many times I clicked “not interested,” muted people, blocked people, it didn’t matter. He bought this app to systematically brainwash Americans and we really should talk about it more.

Nate Silver literally just made a normal quote tweet. The site features are so badly designed that when the X management interacts with normal use of them, they see this use as dishonest. X could easily design quote posts so that they have two posts in them, giving us more context. But they haven't done that. Instead often people take screenshots instead of quote posting, which is another sign of design fail.
Nikita Bier@nikitabier

@NateSilver538 Can you stop quote tweeting without the context? It’s intellectually dishonest.
