I gotta say this is probably one of the worst possible takes I’ve seen in the subject. Imagine saying “poor people aren’t smart enough to cook” 😂
Nobody is forced to door dash, Taylor. It’s a convenience.
I grew up dirt poor and we went out to eat maybe once a month. 🤷♂️
Taylor Lorenz@TaylorLorenz
This is bc they do not have the time or capacity to create home cooked meals. It’s an issue countless ppl have tried to raise w leftists but big leftists online continue to shame/abuse poor ppl for being forced to rely on these services for meals, which act as a tax on the poor

Fork your dependencies, trim them to only your use case, never update unless it breaks for your users. I’ve been vocal about this for 10+ years. I’ve always said that updating is way riskier than latent bugs (which can be tracked and CVEs monitored).
If you are updating a dependency, it’s on you to analyze every single commit in the full transitive set of dependencies. If you dont see anything compelling, dont update!
I remember at HashiCorp once in awhile an engineer would try to update a dep or replace a DIY lib with an external one and id always ask “show me the commit we need.” Dont update for the sake of it.
Feeling pretty swell about this mentality with all the supply chain attacks happening.

@mitchellh This was the SOP at @tsheets for the longest time when I worked there. Definitely a solidly good plan. @zehm had a pretty good handle on that area :)

Blog: why I built a new Terraform provider for UniFi Network. Goal:
Built on the UniFi OpenAPI snapshot, published on the Registry.

@leothrix I’ve done this a couple times and… look, if a token predictor can guide us to something edible from a random assortment of ingredients then.. ok.

@Osinttechnical Holy shit. We were there yesterday watching their routine, they pulled it off well. So sad to see this.

@essobi How IS your local work going? I have had limited success, but also limited hardware so no really great models for me.

Or you just #RunLocal like me.

Claude Code detects whether you're accessing it over SSH, and severely throttles your tokens. They are doing this to combat people who are prompting too much. They want you to use their product on a macbook only, using a signed claude code distribution

@HackingDave That sounds incredible. Our local play is mostly outdoors and mostly casual. Yall setting the standard for milsim 🤣

We had an interesting objective where we had to extract Nicoli - a Russian asset that had valuable intel. (Airsoft at an old prison).
Our team of five found him in the tunnels of the prison, battled him until he went down.
I did a full body search and found six rigged explosives on him, a knife, a hammer- had to disarm. He grabbed one of my teammates guns and shot another team member. I disconnected my hose so that trick didn’t work on me 😆
Once you say extract - he fights you tooth and nail to prevent you.. big guy 280lbs.
I bear hugged him and fought him all the way back to our AO.
I’m so dead - took all my energy wrestling the dude back to our CO for a 1000 points.
Really cool objective and immersive- we got pinned down on extract, called in backup - perfect timing was able to sneak out the back side of the prison for the win.

@leothrix I’ve been meaning to convert that to self hosted anyways so I guess that’s the weekend project.

@Badgerops If they do jump the shark, vaultwarden still runs well standalone with its web vault so I have some runway if the Worst somehow happens

@ibuildthecloud Unironically just found a use-case yesterday supporting a quick fix while I had my minions doing a large refactor in a checked out branch. Worked great.
Should it be the norm? Idk 🤷♂️
