@Nyborger_Nybo @DebevecTadej Agree - within changes in flow vs baseline cross-sectional compare different things. My point is to not neglect metabolic changes from CO2 or heat (both potent metabolic modulators).

@BainPhd @DebevecTadej yes - but with lower flow -> increased extraction and in the Paper with CO2/hyperventilation we also see "inverse flow-glucose extraction relationship in resting conditions (within same participant) - my point is that the cross-sectional observations are not "universal"

We argue a small dose in those habitual users (the majority) is better! Also hate withdrawing…

@BainPhd @DamianMBaileyEP @ExpPhysiol Very informative and interesting narrative on the "Intro to Freediving". Anyone interested in integrative physiology should give this a read! The next question seems to be, what is the next feat of strength to break the 1:1 tie?

🎓EDITOR'S CHOICE🎓 This study by @BainPhd (@uwinkinesiology) et. al. shows that the hypocapnia protects the brain from elevated penetration by microvesicles, which otherwise might cause cerebral inflammation! 📜buff.ly/46XMkuU

Cerebral uptake of microvesicles occurs in normocapnic but not hypocapnic passive hyperthermia in young healthy male adults - Parikh - The Journal of Physiology - Wiley Online Library. A potential ‘protective role’ for heat-induced hyperventilation? physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP…
