USC Legend and former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft Keyshawn Johnson lit into USC following the announcement that the Notre Dame rivalry will be discontinued until 2030 at the earliest.
“We got Trojans in there that are not Trojans, that don’t know anything about being Trojans,” he stated. “Why would we cancel our biggest rivalry because we can’t beat them?”
USC and Notre Dame were unable to reach an agreement to continue the annual series beyond the 2025 season. As a result, 2026 will be the first time the two programs do not meet due to contractual issues. In the nearly 100-year rivalry, the game has been missed only four times, three during World War II and once due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
