The tragic Sulur incident is truly heartbreaking. At a time when the present government is sincerely working hard to fix the system and old issues left behind from the past, incidents like this show how much damage decades of negligence can leave behind. Hoping that these criminals receive punishment of the highest order so that such incidents never ever happen again! My heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the young girl and her family during this unimaginably painful time. Hope they get justice soon and may they find the strength and emotional support needed to overcome this tragedy. 🙏

But that’s the fascinating part. Nobody really won. Because Shakti worked precisely due to that tug of war remaining unresolved till the very end. The father never softened completely. Not cool. You can dislike a Prime Minister, disagree with a government, protest, debate and vote differently. That’s democracy. But reducing the office of India’s Prime Minister, the man, the office, and what he represents abroad, to a joke on foreign soil -doesn’t feel like the right thing or dissent - to me. It diminishes him, the institution, and ultimately, us.

Does Coimbatore require metro rail, or will it be overkill for the city? Why? Please read the facts below and let’s see how people respond — and more importantly, what those responses actually mean for Coimbatore Metro. 🔹Coimbatore Metro Rail will JUST ONLY be an ORNAMENT for the City (ornaments are not used regularly) and it will never be a necessity. 🔹Where and how will it be useful to reduce the conveyance rush? Absolutely nowhere. 🔹The proposed Metro infrastructure is already covered by our railway system with plenty of trains commuting in and out of Coimbatore and this Metro Rail Project will not provide anything different than what is existing, not considering the number of Flyovers that have cropped up in the City. 🔹Instead they can develop and expand the Road system in the City, 🔹The City Roads should be developed in proportion to the number of vehicles that are been sold in the City, or are plying in and out of the City. 🔹As a common citizen of the city without much technical knowledge to provide numbers in this regard, i visualize the stress of the existing vehicle commuters. 🔹At least let us dream of roads without potholes and cavities. That will reduce the stress on the drivers of the vehicle and the vehicle. 🔹Nowadays no one drives on the long view mode, which is the right way to drive, which will prevent lot of accidents, but are fixed to the immediate road in front of you to avoid all these obstacles, not mentioning the uncontrolled and unauthorized speed humps being put up every 5 to 10 meters on the interior roads. 🔹Watching the road in front of you and when you lift your head up you will be surprised by the Jay Drivers who do not follow any kind of rules on the road, (Wrong Side Drivers / One Way Drivers / Turning their vehicle before the turn, etc. etc.) 🔹I do not want to go political, if so the reasoning for the Metro will get a different perspective, and the roads getting ready in a huff when some VIP visits the particular road, which was not bothered about for years. 🔹Example of how deep the Sewage manholes have gone in the middle of the roads, it is because of layering and layering of roads instead of re-laying the roads. 🔹Houses built with their entrance at par with the street in front of them are now deep wells and people get a feeling that they live below surface level and rain water gets accumulated in their houses because of this. A metro rail system requires huge investment in infrastructure, land acquisition, stations, rolling stock and long-term operations. For such a project to be viable, it must attract a very high number of daily passengers (ridership). In this case, the DPR projected around 5.9 lakh daily riders. The ministry appears to have questioned whether a city with current traffic speeds of 30–34 km/h would actually generate that level of metro usage. The logic is: 🔹If road traffic is already moving relatively faster, people may not shift to metro in very large numbers. 🔹Lower ridership means lower revenue and underutilisation of expensive infrastructure. 🔹A metro system is usually prioritised for cities facing severe congestion, slower traffic movement and very high travel demand. So please don’t blindly jump to the conclusion that if someone is asking for a metro, we are simply following the same path as others. Let’s think, analyse, and finally take a decision that will truly be useful for the people of Coimbatore.

Modi deserves to be humiliated everywhere he goes. He has not given a single press conference in 12 years since he became the Prime Minister. He fails to fulfill the basic transparency and accountability requirements of being a leader. I would like to encourage foreign journalists from other European countries to ask him questions wherever they see him, just like @HelleLyngSvends did. Embarrass him so much that he is forced to show some accountability in front of people. You will be doing great service for India’s progress.
