This past week #cashcatte traded for $206/$324.50 in NE nearly $5 higher than the week prior.

The August #feeder cattle contract traded within a $12.75 range last week, closing near the high at $281.25. Market #volatility remains notably high heading into March.

Boxed #beefprices have declined steadily since mid-January. As of the February 28 afternoon report, Choice stands at $311.83 and Select at $302.05, with the Choice-Select spread narrowing from over $36 in November to $9.78.

On Friday February 21st the USDA released their monthly #cattleonfeed report. It’s critical to remember that the January 2024 report showed notably low #placement values due to inclement weather, resulting in inflated values below.

Live cattle cash market touched record-high prices again. In the North, #cattle traded as high as $212/cwt. South saw prices of $208/cwt. It's essential for cattle producers to remain mindful of inherent risks ahead, especially as we approach the five-year mark of this bull run.
