When your local ⁦@cvspharmacy⁩ has to post a sign like this outside the store you realize once again that our response to the pandemic has failed. Why can’t there be enough Rapid Tests available & affordable in the middle of a huge surge? ⁦@michaelmina_lab

Does convalescent plasma prevent #COVID19 hospitalization? Great news: Our clinical trial shows #COVID19 convalescent plasma works to reduce hospitalizations by 54% when given within 9 days of symptoms. Our findings are posted on @MedRxiv (medrxiv.org/content/10.110…). 1/

I saw a pt who wants to get the vax but has a history of allergies (carries Epi-Pen). Her whole family is anti-vax & won’t go with her. She was in tears afraid she’ll die at the pharmacy. We scheduled her vaccine & yours truly will be there to hold her hand, getting my flu shot.

@saltylungs There are literally studies of keeping people awake and even walking around the ICU on the vent. Clearly not someone who has worked in an ICU (or even walked through one) in the last 10 years

If this virus is expected to be endemic, when do we end the disruptive policy of 2 week quarantines for positive cases? Is anyone tackling this question? Asking for a friend with two little kids in school hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/…

@KnoppRyan I appreciate your response. My question is what happens if I do get serious vaccine side effects? Are the pharmaceutical companies held responsible? If not how can I be MANDATED to take it? Doesn’t seem right to me.

Happy day for me. Several people I care a lot about got the COVID vaccine today, overcoming some hesitancy. What do I say to my patients who are unsure about the vaccine? This:

@littlewhitty These are reputable profession for what they do but believing all sorts of lies based on half-truths… unfortunately a lot of the public doesn’t realize this

Can anyone explain to me why so many nurses are anti-vax? I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

@littlewhitty Making therapy decisions isn’t actually their wheelhouse.Critically evaluating the evidence isn’t something they have to do for their day to day role. Kinda like the Chiropractor “doctors” all over social media spreading misinformation.

@littlewhitty Huge respect for nurses for what they do. But at the end of the day, they are not trained in the role of critically evaluating the literature for treatment because that’s not their role. Prescribing is the role of the provider

Harm reduction aims to decrease new infections just like strategies that don't involve harm reduction. But #harmreduction takes into account the actual real-world conditions of life (need for contact, for work, for school) when forming policy to mitigate a pathogen's effects.

Clinic successes from today: -convinced a pt to get the covid vax -treated and cured a pt w/ an STI -facilitated getting a pt a motel voucher -taught an MS1 approach to note-writing and clinical reasoning
