New long-acting anti-#HIV drugs, such as lenacapavir (dw.com/en/injectable-…) ,which needs to be given only 2x a year, can effectively prevent #HIV infections. Further, such drugs can facilitate treatment plans for individuals already living with an HIV infection. #infectneXt

What is #HIV? HIV stands for the human immunodeficiency virus. It attacks the immune system, specifically the CD4+ T cells, and is the cause of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (#AIDS). It is transmitted as shown in this illustration and causes life-long infections. #infectneXt
