1/ This year’s official @consensus2026 closing party by @CoinDesk was a massive step backward. Hosting the flagship event at E11even — a strip club — wasn't just inappropriate; it was incredibly low-brow for an industry trying to grow up. 2/ Let’s be clear: I’m all for alcohol, music, and a good time. Hire a world-class DJ. Throw a massive rave. Go to Club Space. But choosing a strip club as the official venue for a global conference is a choice that reflects poorly on all of us. 3/ Just because this happened in 2021 doesn't mean it should happen in 2026. Back then, Coinbase, FTX and Binance execs were there, but the industry has evolved. We are supposed to be moving toward institutional maturity, not leaning into "bro-culture" clichés. 4/ I’ve always been an advocate for sex work. I have zero issue with women making $40k–$80k on their own terms. The issue is the context. 5/ When an official event for a top-tier conference — filled with institutional partners and people of all genders and religions — centres on women shaking for dollars, it diminishes women to sexual objects and enforces a stale, exclusionary culture. 6/ It’s honestly boring. I guarantee brands like @MetaMask and CoinDesk will one day look back at their logos plastered on those walls with genuine embarrassment. 7/ We had international attendees flying in from across the globe. Is this really the best US crypto has to offer? Working the pole is a skill, but watching it in a professional context just left most people looking dazed and awkward. 8/ The vibe was off. I ran into my banker and some mid-tier hedge fund guys there. We can talk millions on Wall Street or over steak, but meeting at a strip club is unnecessary. We could’ve hit a polo club, a baseball box, or played padel. 9/ Even the economics were a "bear market" vibe. Most people were just watching with a mix of shock and intrigue. The girls weren't making much. They used to take crypto; now they don't. The floor was dry. No fiat moving. US and Iran closing in on a MOU aimed at ending the conflict, CNN reports. US had received positive feedback from Pakistan on Tuesday that Iran was progressing toward a compromise, there was some skepticism, before a renewed diplomatic push occurred.
Trump appeared to be simplifying issues, to enable the moderates within Iran to return to talks, and to then deal with the more complicated points later.
The harder the US pushed its agenda of Project Freedom and Operation Epic Fury, the more the hardliners in Iran stood up and had a bigger voice.

Some comments that having children is already “high status” - it isn’t. High cost does not equal high status.
Female status games in Singapore in the millennial generation revolve around career, material goods, travel, general worldliness and aesthetics.
Having a child directly fucks with all of the above.
You lose out in your career to other women who delay having children. In fact the mere implication that you are married reduces your social climbing capacity. Your body gets nuked while your friends are posting bikini / workout thirst traps on Instagram. Cute coffee / night out selfies are replaced with far more expensive but less glamorous hospital visits.
It gets worse when you give birth. Your entire identity becomes “mom” which the Singapore government has implied to be low status by aggressively encouraging women to outsource maternal functions to poorly paid Filipino and Indonesian domestic workers and infant cares / childcares.
Your cost of travelling, another high status activity, increases and your travel efficiency goes down. This compounds with more children so what previously was a glamorous trip with no children and your boyfriend / husband taking pics of you to make your friends jealous instead becomes a dowdy family trip where you have to herd kids and change diapers.
Child related costs are high but none of this directly translates to status. 2-3 months of premium childcare translates to a Chanel bag but has none of that Instagramability.
An expanding family also makes it far more expensive to live at a high status address bc a 600 square foot apartment in a desirable neighbourhood is arguably affordable at $3000 per square foot but becomes oppressive at 1000+ square feet when you account for children, forcing very visible lifestyle “downgrades”.
Post partum and breastfeeding body changes also makes it far harder to regain the petite Asian beauty standard (that was low effort to maintain pre childbirth), especially coupled with pressures of working, parenting and shitty sleep.
So yeah, not hard to see why Singaporean women don’t want to have children or delay motherhood.
