This is from a pro-Palestine protest in Brisbane, Queensland today (March 11, 2026). An 18-year-old woman was arrested for wearing a singlet with "From the river to the sea" printed on it. A 33-year-old man was also arrested for chanting the same phrase.
New QLD hate speech laws, effective that day, ban those words (and "globalise the intifada") if used to cause offence, menace or harassment—up to 2 years jail. She was released without charge later that evening; he faces court. The slogan is seen by some as antisemitic, by others as a call for Palestinian equality.
