This guys very likely to be in a whole heap of trouble for this. He’d deserve to be,too. Stopping a robbery - fine. Restraining the suspect - fine. Using excessive force - nope! Yelling obscenities at them - nope. Being aggressive and violent - nope. Posting online and showing everyone this guys face and declaring him an armed robber? No. No. No. It takes a court to decide guilt. Until then you can’t even say that somebody has done something criminal - that’d be slander. Put it in writing/print/etc - liable. The ‘robber’ could be mentally ill and have no idea he’s doing wrong. He may have a brain tumour and is confused. He could be a heroin addict and so far off his box that he’s not intending to steal at all and is just hungry. You just don’t know which is why you can only do the bear minimum and can only do that if there’s no other option and it’s a serious crime. Nicking a bag of Ready Salted is not even something the police would really bother with. Crime is a problem. Drugs etc are a problem. Violence on our streets is a problem. This is NOT the way to deal with any of it. This ‘hero’ is a knob. He probably meant to do the right thing but to be this violent to a person that clearly isn’t a threat to him is not right. Banging it up on the net is plain wrong. I’ve stopped people twice for stealing from shops but you’ve got to be so careful. With today’s society I’d not even try. (I’m disabled now it’s no longer possible.) However, this is not how anyone should go about it. The guys a hung-ho prick!
