PhD. Tactics in marrow, rhythm in breath. Arsenal first, football scholar always. Positional play, depth charts, & the poetry of pressing. 🟥⬜⚽

@REDactionAFC That reply tells me you understood the point enough to feel it, but not enough to enter it. So you shrank it to “he catch ball good” to make the frame manageable for yourself. That’s not analysis. That’s avoidance.

The late winner changes so much,: tonight, for Saturday, for next Wednesday. And David Raya is a total fucking gangster

Sporting CP were on a 17-game winning streak at their José Alvalade Stadium until they met Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. ⛔️

@garythegooner56 @GeoffArsenal So it wouldn’t just “blow his mind.” He’d recognise it. Different tools… same engine. Real question for the room: Are we watching something that evolved… or something that simply scaled without losing its original code?

Arsenal’s changed so much in the 60 years I’ve been going but think about David Danskin setting up a little football team in the Dial Square workshop at the Royal Arsenal. It would absolutely blow his mind that millions upon millions follow his team from all across the globe

@EBL2017 Because if that pattern holds… it won’t matter who the 9 is. The output will keep looking the same. So I’ll leave it simple. If the final pass never forms… is that because the player didn’t see it… or because the picture in front of him never fully existed?

@EBL2017 You said patterns can exist before players arrive. Agreed. So the real question is: are we looking at a striker issue… or a repeat pattern of creators being positioned one layer away from where decisions actually hurt teams?

Since when did #9’s become the reason why a team struggles to create chances? Agenda’s, bias & emotional connection to one’s ego or perception of how they are thought of can make any man spiral out of control. I’m an emotional man, not a robot. But honesty requires objectivity.

🚨💣‼️ Breaking: Reports claim Manchester City could face a 60-point deduction. If confirmed, they’d drop to the bottom of the table and be relegated. ❌ Final decision expected before the season ends.

I thought that vulnerability is worse than it's even appeared, because Guehi/Donna have cleaned up a lot of messes. This time, Pep just glued the back-four and double-pivot together so you couldn't get between them.

Little thing I haven't seen mentioned re: the City setup was that it was about limiting Arsenal personnel, but also covering a City deficiency. Noticed if you get behind Bernardo/Rodri and face the backline, the backline has gotten toasted (diags, etc) and recoveries are lacking.

Paul Scholes: “If Arsenal win the Premier League, this could be the worst team to win the league. If you’re thinking of picking a team of the season & you pick a front four, who out of the Arsenal team gets in that?” 🧐 [@goodbadftblpod]

@EBL2017 Liverpool and City didn't win because they were calmer. They won because pressure could break the game from multiple nodes. Arteta's issue isn't mentality. It's over-centralised control at the moment chaos must be licensed. Fix the structure > the psychology follows.

@EBL2017 That take confuses psychology with structure. Arsenal don't have a 'mental problem". They have pressure without redundancy. When one outlet carries the fear response, opponents over-load it. That's not nerves > that's game theory.

Arsenal have a mental problem. That’s normal when trying to win for your first title. But what helps teams who play ‘nervy’ is often moments of absurdity from elite forwards. Liverpool relied on Mané, Salah, Trent. City on Haaland, KDB, Agüero. Arsenal have Saka. Need another
