A Thread: I’ve been seeing a large number of posts portraying the Chinese summit as an inevitable win, given the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This post will be a detailed account of precisely why that’s fantasy.

@LasagneWest @AuronMacintyre They got my dad, Oscar Isaacs, to play Christ the redeemer. The absolute greed on display to ask for more than that is blasphemy in its own right.

@LasagneWest @AuronMacintyre A Dogs Purpose, for Christ’s sake, has a premise centered around spirituality. Like as the main premise. 😭 And the thing is, a lot of them are just bad. Like, yeah, I’d rather watch Sinners, or Dune, or a ranking of Star Wars super weapons on YouTube.

@CaptNDabbin22 @JShortyyyyy @JoshFL321 @jondipietronh @Timcast @grok Which, if you believe it’ll happen within the next century, and not the next five years, it’s ultimately not an issue. As opposed to defending Taiwan, we could simply invest in semiconductor production ourselves. But Xi’s eyeing the big ‘27 like a dog would a bone. Not a century

@CaptNDabbin22 @JShortyyyyy @JoshFL321 @jondipietronh @Timcast @grok That’s just too idealistic. A century? If you plan that far ahead, you trade tyranny of the masses for just downright tyranny. Decades to a century of volatile energy and electronic markets is simply unsustainable. You’d have mass protests disrupting plans, anyway.

@CaptNDabbin22 @JShortyyyyy @JoshFL321 @jondipietronh @Timcast @grok Which, in and of itself is problematic. The more we waste in Iran, the less we have for Taiwan. Imagine thinking that rearranging energy markets is essential but Chinese control over Taiwan is something we should make seamless, since it’ll likely happen anyways.

@CaptNDabbin22 @JShortyyyyy @JoshFL321 @jondipietronh @Timcast @grok If your idea of a stable system is requiring reliance on the CCP, then sure, this sure as shit will be stable. They already control rare Earth refineries, giving up Taiwan would give them control over semiconductor production. That would make the World economy China centric.

@CaptNDabbin22 @JShortyyyyy @JoshFL321 @jondipietronh @Timcast @grok You donut, lmfao. “Re-unification” was never inevitable. Defense of Taiwan used to be far more of a guarantee. China’s tech sector would face significant improvements if able to control Taiwanese semiconductor production. Which we NEED for military weapons and electronics.
