What the heck happened? 🤷‍♀️ In the summer of 1996, I was on officer training at CFB Gagetown. One evening, as our group marched down the hall, someone yelled out, “Who’s the split-a** that told us to go left?” It wasn’t directed at me. It wasn’t about me. And I wasn’t the only woman on the course. What happened next left a lasting impression. The Sergeant immediately brought the group to attention, identified the offending officer, and marched him straight to the Commanding Officer’s office. We could all hear the CO making it crystal clear why that kind of behaviour had no place in our military, and why the officer’s continued service was now in question. For many evenings after the rest of us were done for the day, we watched that officer sweeping the parade square. And that was the end of it. No drawn-out investigation. No months of drama. Just swift, decisive leadership that reinforced standards and protected the team. I often reflect on that moment when I look at the state of our paramilitary and public institutions today. 👉 That level of immediate accountability and moral courage from middle management seems increasingly rare. No one wakes up one morning and files an HR complaint. These issues build over years of poor leadership, eroded standards, and a reluctance to address problems before they become toxic. Too often, institutions only act when the financial or reputational cost becomes too high to ignore. That experience was one of the reasons I pursued my MBA. If leaders couldn’t always be convinced to do the right thing on ethical grounds alone, perhaps they could be shown that the ethical decision is usually also the financially beneficial one in the long run. Strong institutions require strong leadership at every level. “Never pass a fault” as the military used to say. Our public safety organizations and the communities they serve deserve nothing less.

Singh’s wife is the second victim here. Cheated on, now the sole breadwinner because her security guard loser husband is serving 170 days house arrest and can’t work. Wonder how many times he “forgot” to ask for her consent too. Women lose all around.

📣 Bit of good news: The Supreme Court restored the 6-month mandatory minimum for obtaining sexual services from a minor. 👏👏👏 But I agree with @Watchdog_MP - 6 months is still way too low for this crime. Predators who pay to rape children are the lowest of the low and deserve real jail time, not a token sentence. We need much tougher minimums and NO leniency. Protect our kids. Period. 👊

@BarbaraBalCPC Our government is always trashed women. Even Justin Trudeau trashed female politicians because it was going to cover up his bullshit. Sue civilly. And when they try to sue you for defamation, go to court because this little thing called discovery will show the truth.

🤔 So there was enough evidence to charge ‘Officer X’ with SEXUAL ASSAULT… but the decision was handed to a commander who was buddies with the accused? Worse? The reservists brave enough to come forward with evidence were threatened with mutiny and treason charges to silence them. This is a broken system protecting its own at the expense of victims and honourable service members. Accountability matters: ✅ in our military ✅ in our police ✅ in our institutions The victim deserves justice. We need to do better. 🇨🇦

🐕 Last week in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, I visited the Grenfell House Museum and observed a powerful tribute to three sled dogs. They were lifelines. Dogs are one of many symbols of the Canadian “man vs. nature” identity. The horrific Inuit sled dog cull of the 1950s and 60s remains a shameful chapter in our history. 👉 We must not forget the lessons from when we failed to protect what made us strong. 🇨🇦

Devastated to learn of the apparent murder of my late friend Anne Widecombe. Anne was a truly unique voice in British politics. A long time MP and Minister who was fearless, often controversial, and always principled. Her murder follows a string of other assassinations and anticipate attempted assassinations in British politics in recent years, including of my friend David Amess. Requiem æternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpétua lúceat ei. 🙏
