I went to an event yesterday at @BarbicanCentre featuring my friend Nihal and Palestinian Elias Anastas. Before it began speakers were warned by Barbican’s staff not to mention Palestine. The event was abruptly cancelled minutes in for ‘tech issues’. This is real cancel culture:

Bring outsourced staff in house. End outsourcing. Voluntarily recognise trade unions. End zero hours contracts. £15 per hour minimum wage. Actually enforce zero tolerance for third party abuse and harassment. Don’t rent space to racist orgs.

Look, government has cut funding. Museums need to self-generate revenue. We get it. We’re not huge fans of a lot of the people or organisations that hire the spaces we work in, but for the most part we keep our mouths shut.
