And this is precisely why many Hausa people reject attempts subtle or overt to pressure them into identity narratives that blur accountability. When legitimate grievances are dismissed and dissent is stigmatized, it stops being about unity it’s just coercion.

The most disturbing part of the banditry discourse isn’t ignorance, it’s selective outrage rooted in identity bias. When the perpetrators are linked to Fulani bandits, some voices suddenly abandon moral clarity and retreat into excuses, deflection, and soft language. 1/5

Let’s be clear hardship doesn’t turn people into mass killers, and governance gaps don’t excuse brutality. When people keep bending over backwards to explain away atrocities, what they’re really exposing isn’t complexity, it’s bias.

Figures like Ahmad Gumi didn’t just echo this trend they embodied it, going as far as engaging armed groups directly while communities were being terrorized. At that point, it stops looking like peacebuilding and starts looking like moral compromise shaped by identity loyalty.

Among some Fulani people elites and commentators, this pattern is hard to ignore. Instead of outright condemnation, you hear endless rationalizations everything becomes “context,” everything becomes “misunderstood,” except the suffering of the victims.

Association has no manual you fool. Besides much of the Hausa leadership is dominated by Fulani elites presenting themselves as “Hausa Fulani” for political convenience. They may be minority, but reality suggests otherwise. Hausa people are fighting for their identity & survival
Mahmud Sada Imam@Msada52

@almuube These fools remind me of idiots like Tommy Robinson in England who'd get upset by a Pakistani association. It's minorities that need associations not majorities whose culture set the tone of the society. Hausa is swallowing Arewa yet these fools want to play victims.

Miyetti Allah and Kautal Hore openly defend Fulani interests, but Hausa Zalla is quickly labeled “kafir” and “maguzawa” (pagans) for doing the same. That’s not just hypocrisy it’s selective outrage. There’s hypocrisy, then there’s Fulani hypocrisy.

@VogelnW Zombie fulanis are ok with fulani Christian group to be fulanis and a part of them, no outrage. But the same fulanis accuse Hausa group as a sponsored project by Christians and Israel to cause division within Muslims in Nigeria. Their reign thrives on Hausa slavery.
Millz@Millz_umar

They insult us, calling us Maguzawa and arna, and accuse us of collecting money simply because we speak for the Hausa people. However, when others form separate groups like Miyetti Allah, MACBAN, or the Fulbe Christian Association, no one complains. So, why is it a problem when Hausa people organize or claim to be Hausa Zallah? Double standard, We won’t be silenced.
