@blader I think we’re relatively close to a plateau with LLMs. Would actually put some money on this. Probably hoovered up most publicly available data, some small gains from private data and optimizations to architectures. Famous last words?

$SIVB announces $1.75 b common stock and $500 mm preferred stock offerings, as it tries to shore up its balance sheet. It also sold most of its $21 b "available for sale" securities portfolio, resulting in -$1.8 b in after-tax losses for Q1 2023. These were likely necessary steps as rising funding costs & ongoing deposit run-off create huge headwinds. The elephant in the room remains the roughly -$16 b in unrealized losses in its "held to maturity" portfolio. $SIVB would be insolvent if they were forced to realize these losses (and if they sell *any* of the HTM securities, they must mark them *all* down). Long story short, even if $SIVB avoids the worst case scenario, the bank faces enormous ROE headwinds for many years due to its huge ~$90 b portfolio of fixed-rate, long duration mortgages that mgmt bought at the top-of-the-market.

@JacobMSmall1 Not yet... there's a lot you need to do to get embeddings working with a search engine.

An issue with #gpt3 is that it's limited to processing about 3000 words, so can't analyze long documents... common in #legaltech. Been working around it by iteratively chaining pages in a template (see template). Experimentally getting decent results.
