By bypassing the usual overlap in how our eyes process light, they created a pure, unprecedented signal that the brain had never encountered before. The result is a hyper-saturated blue-green hue that participants described as strangely alien yet breathtakingly beautiful. For now, experiencing olo is only possible in a tightly controlled lab setting. Subjects must remain perfectly still while receiving carefully calibrated laser “microdoses” directly to their retinas. Though the effect is temporary, the breakthrough is profound. Researchers believe this technology could one day help treat color blindness and potentially unlock the ability for humans to perceive millions of additional colors.
