Really nothing new to say at this point. Mets' offense has reached the late '70s-early '80s stage of futility. Just unwatchable, especially on a day Soto is out. The Ewing-Benge energy bump was fun but it fizzled quickly. And the schedule is finally about to get a lot tougher.

Ewing continues to dazzle. Didn't expect 110.5 mph - whoa - off the bat with short, quick swing. His answer to question about HR was equally impressive: "It can be part of my game but I don't think it's gonna be my identity. I want to hit a lot of line drives, get on base a lot."

Takeaways here. Same old story re Mets offense, made worse by Soto's slump. He went 4-for-33 on trip. Had big chances today, twice got very hittable fastballs ahead in count from ERod in 6th/8th w/runner on. Flied out on both, admitted after he's missing pitches he should hit.
