I have spent alot of time reflecting over the last few hours, and at some point I will write more on her life, but I lost my last grandparent today, Judith Carol Long. Judy might have weighed 100 pounds, at best; but she would have been a mismatch for a fully-grown grizzly bear. And to the extent I have a fighting spirit, it most certainly comes from her. As I got older, she liked to remind people she had once carried me around on a ‘silver platter’ — and she did; I had such a wonderful childhood. She was anything but a typical grandmother in most respects, having graduated from a Trans-Am in the 80s to a Camaro in the 90s. She loved excitement — she loved a good practical joke — and she loved her children and grandchildren. Maybe more than anyone, she was the person who I could confide in when times were tough; I have missed that over the last few years, as her once sharp mind had returned to simpler times. Life is a plethora of emotions - and at times they spill over on each other. Such is the case tonight in thinking of the good times and the hard. I am so very thankful and blessed though to have had Judy Long as an influence in my life; she never backed down from anything. She was fearless.

@MichelleNew1 @scottwestacre I live in AZ, part of the high risk region where it's most prevalent,and it's rare here so you likely have far less of a risk. Try rodent control methods for your shed and if you have to clean up after them don't sweep or vacuum. Clean it up with water and bleach.

@scottwestacre This is … reassuring? We have a shed that mice make a home in the winter and I sweep it out every spring. Was thinking of this news story and wondering if I was in danger.

Hantavirus hotel. Been in many an old truck or barn with mice residue. Believe I read that repeated exposure helped build a minor resistance to the virus but not sure. Seeing it come across posts as there is an active case in Kansas with related exposures to others.

Another funny XXX momma story. Several years back I was practicing for a speed competition on horseback. My horse Chance (in the picture) and I had a really bad accident. Chance was cut up from falling and they had to perform CPR on me. But the funny part of the story is when mom took me out to eat a week later. We are sitting in a restaurant and an older couple asked me what happened. At the end of my story mom says, "save a horse ride a cowboy ". My face turned red and I grabbed her hand to leave. Walking to the car I'm laughing so hard and mom says, "what did I say wrong ". I told her and she said, "I thought that meant don't get hurt on a horse"... 🤣🤣🤣 Mom always made me laugh.
