@scottwestacre This is … reassuring? We have a shed that mice make a home in the winter and I sweep it out every spring. Was thinking of this news story and wondering if I was in danger.

Hantavirus hotel. Been in many an old truck or barn with mice residue. Believe I read that repeated exposure helped build a minor resistance to the virus but not sure. Seeing it come across posts as there is an active case in Kansas with related exposures to others.

I don't remember where I watched it, either YouTube Shorts or Instagram reels, but I saw a video of Dave Ramsey on a podcast sharing how for one Christmas he bought $10 million of medical debt that belonged to other people, and he told each employee in his company, their Christmas treat this year was to call 10 debtors each and tell them their debt has been paid off They happily did so, and the employees cried with the callers when they shared the news The employees reported back saying that that was the best Christmas gift they ever received Dave Ramsey could've easily called the debtors himself or sent out a mass email, but he allowed his employees to share in the joy of helping people Now I'm thinking about how this anecdote applies to God and the saints in heaven. God can easily snap his fingers and grant every request, but the reason He assigns saints in heaven as Patrons of things (like St. Anthony of Padua for lost items, St. Gianna Molla for infertility etc.) is because God is allowing His followers to share in the joy of helping people God is always the source, but the saints are the conduit

@ChrisMartzWX 🫠 I did! When my kids were in hs(started 0730-was a 20 min drive). I got up super early to shower, get my handicapped son up and showered and dressed, eat breakfast while he showered. I have a high metabolism so I was starving by 10:30. But I called it second breakfast.

I love my local diner, but they stop serving breakfast at 10:30, which is the dumbest crap I have ever heard of. Who eats lunch at 10:30 A.M.?

@Bonnarpa @emzanotti My mom says she reserved tickets when I was little and they didn’t arrive until my sister (born three years later) and she was four or five. She got chosen for Bozo Buckets!

@MZHemingway @seanmdav There should be church services on the morning of July 4th this year to thank God for this country just like John Adams hoped would be where people went on this day. 🇺🇸

Yesterday on the plane, the man seated next to me had cool American flag loafers and it made me sad that we are not being utterly deluged with America 250 merch. Send me the coolest things you've seen, please. I'm in the mood to purchase.

Every oncologist and cancer researcher should watch this interview with @BenSasse: nytimes.com/2026/04/09/opi… Daraxonrasib, a “super poison for cancer,” shrank his metastatic pancreatic tumors by 76%, even though he says his skin feels and looks “nuclear.” When I learned of his diagnosis, I wanted him to get this drug (oral RAS ON inhibitor), which is poised to become first-line therapy in pancreatic cancer. I hope his experience on a clinical trial encourages more patients to enroll in studies, and pushes clinicians and researchers to keep advancing new therapies.

“That lawn should count as two or three lawns.” We hear that sometimes… especially when a kid takes on a yard that looks like it might never end. And truth be told, it is big. It is tough. It takes more time, more effort, more determination. But here’s the lesson… not everything in life gives extra credit just because it’s harder. Sometimes the challenge is the reward. Those big lawns? They’re the ones that test you. They’re the ones where you want to stop halfway through, where the sun feels hotter, and the finish line feels far away. But when a kid keeps going, row by row, step by step, they’re building something far greater than a finished yard. They’re building grit. They’re learning that they’re capable of more than they thought. And once they conquer a lawn like that, every lawn after feels a little smaller… a little easier… a little more possible. That’s how life works too. There will be moments that feel overwhelming, tasks that seem too big, days where quitting feels easier. But those are the moments that shape you the most. Not because you got extra credit, but because you didn’t quit. You showed up, you pushed through, and you finished what you started. And that lesson? That’s worth more than anything extra.

There's no federal holiday for Easter — the most important day in the Christian faith. @SenEricSchmitt and I think that should change. We’ve introduced a bill to make Easter Monday a federal holiday. Here's why. 🧵

75K+ flowers -- donated to the Vatican -- came from the Netherlands to decorate St. Peter’s Square for Easter. A 35-person volunteer team assembles the display in three days, and many plants are later replanted or donated. 🎥 CNS photo/@LolaGomezC

Shopping for a gown and dealing with vanity sizing might be the penance I deserve. Dysmorphia is weird, so I used actual measurements, and I still got something that doesn’t fit. What size am?!?

@SSatts @kare11 I think lifespan for a large dog is much shorter than smaller dogs. German shepherds have a shorter life span as well. And really giant dogs, shorter still.

If your spouse regularly travels or goes to work dinners, it is very important to have and execute the “Dad is Out” protocol. Ours involves ordering vast quantities of Indian bread and eating it while watching a family movie.
