Shoebills are severely threatened by habitat loss & the illegal bird trade. Fortunately, 350 individuals have found sanctuary in Zambia’s Bangweulu Wetlands where we are working with local community members known as ‘Shoebill Guards’ to protect nests so chicks fledge safely.
