ANOTHER ICONIC VENUE IN DURBAN IS ABOUT TO SHUTDOWN BECAUSE RIGHTLY THEY REFUSE TO PAY BRIBES TO CORRUPT ETHEKWINI OFFICIALS: The Westridge Park Tennis Stadium which is home of KZN Tennis Association will closedown permanently on the 29th February 2024 if eThekwini municipality does not approve its application for advertising signboards. They applied in January 2023, followed all the correct channels and protocols and paid the necessary application fee. This application is for new signboards to replace the advertising signboards they had for 15 years. This signboard advertising revenue helps pays the salary of 11 permanent staff members who maintain the tennis courts and general upkeep of the area. Westridge Park has the strongest tennis development in the entire country. It has become a safe haven for underprivileged kids from nearby Chesterviille, Mayville and Cato Crest. Kids are given free tennis lessons by volunteers. Schools use this venue to play leagues. Coaches from across Durban use this venue. About 20 big school tennis tournaments in KZN are held at this venue because no other venue has 15 courts. The entire operation is a not for profit organization run by brilliant volunteers. The corrupt eThekwini officials said to them, if they don’t pay a bribe, the application which was done one year ago WILL NOT GET APPROVED. The tennis association refused to pay a bribe and told eThekwini officials they will close down if not approved, eThekwini officials without exaggeration said, THEY DON’T CARE. This is what disgraceful eThekwini mayor Mxolisi Kaunda together with his alliance partner The EFF has done to Durban.
