We are living through one of the largest artificially inflated real estate bubbles in history. Not driven by fundamentals. Driven by policy, leverage, and stimulus. Mean reversion isn’t optional. It’s coming.

Cathy Engelbert thinks her player relationship is in a "really good place" because they're benefiting from the league's growth. “We’re all kind of gelling from that perspective of ‘what’s good for our players is good for our league.’ And we’ll all benefit from that.”

The United Center packed in 19,783 fans for the WNBA All-Star Game. Tickets started around $230, with many commanding more than $1,000. Meanwhile, the Chicago Sky struggle to average 8,000 fans in the exact same city. Same market. Same league. Same sport. The difference is Caitlin Clark. She isn’t merely the face of the WNBA. She is its audience, its relevance and its economic engine. Remove Caitlin Clark from the equation and watch the crowds, prices, ratings and corporate enthusiasm disappear with her.

@Barryco There’s some truth to that. There is some food fraud in the USA, misrepresentation of what’s in a product. But ultra-processed food, in general, is “fake” in some sense.

🥑 Do your avocado chips contain the oil you think they do? UC Davis researchers tested 54 processed foods listing avocado oil as the only oil ingredient. They found that 48—nearly 9 in 10—had chemical profiles inconsistent with authentic avocado oil. Among the products tested: • 93% of chips failed authenticity testing • 100% of salad dressings failed • 71% of mayonnaise products failed By comparison, 19 of 20 products labeled as containing olive oil were consistent with authentic olive oil. High price was no guarantee of purity. This does not prove every avocado-oil product is adulterated. It also doesn't show that manufacturers knowingly mislabeled them. But it does suggest a serious supply-chain and quality-control problem. Until standards and testing improve, whole avocados and products made with verified oils may offer greater assurance. Are you paying extra for products labeled “made with avocado oil”? Reference: Quinton AM. That Avocado Oil Chip You’re Eating May Not Be Made With Pure Avocado Oil. UC Davis. Published July 15, 2026. I'm out. Unwatchable. Legit competition is the one thing the WNBA has to offer the NBA can't. Too stupid to offer their one advantage.

The WNBA's business is growing significantly, but Cathy Engelbert's future is uncertain. Both Engelbert and Adam Silver haven't given definitive answers about her job security as the league's commissioner, with Engelbert avoiding the topic once again at the WNBA All-Star Game.

I actually killed Amazon Prime this year when I did the math, and realized they weren't price competitive with Walmart for most of what we bought that we needed quickly. And for "stuff" that you can't get elsewhere, you can still get free shipping if you're willing to wait a few days. A few months in and noticed 1. Our spending with Amazon across the board dropped dramatically. Probably -1k in aggregate already. Maybe more. 2. I don't impulse add something at the end like I used to, much more intentional about shopping. 3. I don't miss any of the other "value added" services that used to come with Prime? B/c I had to pay for them anyway. We're outliers and I don't expect other people to jump aboard our bandwagon, but I think the ROI on Prime is pretty upside down for consumers now if they think about all the nonsense they didn't need to buy but did b/c it was cheap and fast, then the nickle and diming, then the subscription fee itself - esp when you can get it shipped fee if you're willing to wait a day or two.

We all were told “Cut the cord & stream, it will save SO much money”. But this is how Amazon (and all the other streamers) get you. Amazon Prime Video used to be “Ad Free”. Video was included in your Prime membership. In 2024, they rolled out ads and said you could pay $2.99 for no ads. But, if you didn’t want to pay that $2.99, the ads wouldn’t be “that” noticeable. Maybe 1 or 2. Lately though there has been a MASSIVE spike in long ads at the beginning of episodes and then 5-6 full ads throughout a Series episode. So much so, that I was going to pay the $2.99/mo to go ad free (on top of Prime Membership Cost). Went to pay it and it’s now $4.99/month. Honestly, it’s worth it to not have to watch ads, but Amazon nickels and dimes the customer base that it has, just as much as it does the sellers on their platform. And it’s subtle…you just wake up one day and your existing experience with the platform is such a miserable experience, you’re almost forced to upgrade to the next level of service.

Sadly, the Purple Line breaks the D.C. rail network's famous property of every station being no more than one transfer from any other. Any non-interchange Purple Line stop is 2 transfers away from the easternmost Blue and Silver Line stops.
TODNewsHub@TODNewsHub

Remember when people said the Purple Line would never happen? Now the trains are running under live power. Next stop: opening day. When complete, the Purple Line will connect Metro, MARC, Amtrak, the University of Maryland, Bethesda, Silver Spring, and New Carrollton into one seamless network. The region has waited decades for this. The payoff is almost here.
