Jesus was not a Christian, and neither were Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses. To say otherwise is to confuse the literal, historical Bible with a metaphorical or spiritual reading of the Bible.

Yes, it is anachronistic but nevertheless conceptually correct:
Abraham was a Christian.
Melchizedek was a Christian.
Moses was a Christian.
Jethro was a Christian.
Abraham and Moses were united to Christ by faith in the Abrahamic Covenant.
Melchizedek and Jethro were united to Christ by faith in the Noahic Covenant.
They were not saved apart from faith in Christ. They were saved by faith in God's promises fulfilled in Christ.
They were Christians before the term was ever used.

Adam was saved by looking forward to the serpent crusher (Christ). Abraham saw the day of Christ by faith and trusted in Him. David saw the Son (Christ) ruling with a rod of iron.
