People just want schools that work. They do not care about summits, engagement sessions, and keynote speakers. This is the result of a communications department that has too much time on their hands.

No. You’ll always have some loss. It’s not negligible but it’s not a lot, by percentage. The data centers do use a closed loop internally, but they use a heat exchange system to dump heat. This is where the fresh water sources come in. It’s minimally processed, essentially they strain out debris. They shouldn’t be adding chemicals in this process. That water is then run across the heat exchanges and goes through an evaporative cooling tower. This returns the water exiting the data center to ambient temperatures and keeps it from killing aquatic life via thermal shock. There are systems that use a completely closed loop arrangement. The plus side of all of this is that there is about to be a massive chunk of the economy demanding better water quality.

Okay but why do data centers use any water at all? Wouldn’t you just fill up the cooling system once and it circulates the water for years without the need for more

@Principal_Jon Isn’t it amazing that about 15 years ago this was important and part of PD? Now no one seems to care about the issue and we’ve moved onto race-based gaps and ensuring stem for girls. I haven’t heard this brought up in PD in forever.

There are many cases of this and the issue isn’t that data centers are bad. It’s an issue of not laying out the quality of life rules ahead of time.

@SabresClassics I miss Empire Sports. You’ve got to find some footage of Art Wander. I forget how he exactly ended the show but it was always something like tell the kids you love them. And he’d reference himself as “Arty Baby Boo Boo”. (my memory is terrible but I think this was accurate)

Funny story. I sent @wcpss photos of the retrofit UNC used for classroom doors with panic bars. My classroom door cannot be locked from the inside because of the panic bar. They said they would not make that change, even though classrooms with standard lever handles already have that capability.

@BasedRedWolf After the FIRST episode at UNC - Chapel Hill a few years ago, I kept a baseball bat in my classroom. Nobody was coming for my students.

This reminds me that I need to buy an M&P 15 and keep it in my truck. You never know what evil person might need to be dispatched.
