For all of Batman’s cultural dominance you’d expect the Bat family to have absorbed into public consciousness more but all that’s really stuck with people is Dick, Barbara, and Jason. Cost of the movies avoiding them like the plague. Hope the Crime saga and DCU change that.

there’s also the fact that zorro himself is a vigilante that was penned after an animal. this kind of makes him both an inspiration and a re-imagining as batman. i don’t know if they did it on purpose, since he’s meant to be a detective like sherlock holmes, but it’s still cool!

i think it’s not talked about enough but the fact that part of the inspiration for batman’s costume not only comes from being swarmed by bats and knowing fear, but it also comes from a child being inspired by a hero, and it being the last happy memory he had with his parents.
