Chatted with Arnie and have accepted my fate my tweet came off wrong lol. Mainly was trying to say, don’t let suboptimal golf affect you on course. You are ultimately there to have fun, to enjoy the design, to hang with your friends. If you find yourself in a dark swing change hole, optimizing over tik tok videos, looking too deeply into trackman numbers — pull yourself back out and try and remember it’s all about enjoying a walk in the park with your free time. I was playing with a friend who learned golf more recently on an incredibly privileged course and he was having such a bad time worrying about his face to path and what he was shooting, he never stopped to smell the roses. Don’t be like him!
Arnie McNair 🇺🇸@therealmcnair

Trying to get better at golf is bad guys! Very bad thing to do. Instead you should chase playing a list of courses that other men came up with.

@therealmcnair As though you can’t enjoy both. Being competitive is what I work on my game for, and the competition is the best part. Making birdies is fun, making doubles because your game sucks is not fun.

The funniest part of modern golf is this: People act like walking 18 holes is some impossible aristocratic act but spend $700 on a driver designed to fix their slice.
Shank@Bigal9964

@thwacknicklaus It’s not a rebellion. It’s some weird Elite flex you fucking guys like to brag about. Oh, you walk oh, you do this shit. I’m busy working making money so I got a ride in the cart. There’s not a person I know that when some guy says oh I only walk/old clubs. We all roll our eyes

Heard someone say there’s a direct correlation between your handicap and the amount of time you wear your glove while playing and I can’t stop thinking about it. (You’re disqualified if you never wear a glove)

Hey. You’d make more putts if you stopped lining the ball up like you’re trying to crack a fucking safe on the green. Set it down where you can only see white, pick a spot, and focus more on the speed than anything. Quit the Oceans 11 shit.

@CrudeCO77 @PGATout The tour does need Bryson, a major champion and one of the five best golfers on the planet.

Nah you missed the end. Bryson and his coworkers reached out and the tour said they could come back but they had to pay a penalty and they had a deadline to do it. Bryson neglected to do so by the deadline. Now he won't have a home so he's reaching back out and acting like the Tour needs him and needs to give him special treatment. Should be the other way. Double the penalty and make him go through q school from first stage

Translating the Bryson situation in normie terms: You work really hard to get your dream job out of school. It pays you more than you ever dreamed, but it's stressful and not always easy. Then a startup with crazy seed funding offers to 10x your salary. You're still doing essentially the same job, but you only have to work Monday-Wednesday. You tell your coworkers about it and they all say the same thing. It's unsustainable, but you'll never make that kind of money here, so you take it. You leave your company on awkward terms. This new startup keeps poaching their employees. It puts them in a tough position because they've always attracted the best talent, and for the first time, they can't offer them the highest compensation. No one has ever complained about their salary at this company, but now suddenly, everyone is leaving for more money elsewhere. Your departure puts them in an unprecedented situation, but they restructure and prevail over time. A few years later, the startup you joined shuts down. You've made enough money in those few years to retire and live a modest life. But you're still young and don't want to give up what you worked your whole life towards. Your previous company reaches out with an offer. You would have to go back to the stressful 5 day week and your original salary with new bonus incentives. You consider their offer, but ultimately decide to open your own pizza shop instead.

@minenergybiz The only miner that is truly still undervalued is Barrick How are all of it's big mining peers (i.e. $AEM, $NEM and $AU) all near or well above $100 but Barrick is stuck at $38 even though Barrick produces more, has relative similar AISC, and is also growing as a copper producer

There is a huge bubble in gold mining stocks. Newmont's forward P/E ratio just dropped to 11, which is one of the lowest readings in the last 10 years. $NEM

@YipStrickler @usopengolf My first US Open Quali back in 2006 I was paired w a guy, he had an old bag of persimmon woods, and announced he was playing Pinnacle Golds on the first tee… Thankfully, he lost all his golf balls by the turn.

To those wondering: GA state tournament came down to the last hole at my home club. Mason Howell led by 2 with 2 to play. Sams birdies 17. Lead is 1. Par 5 18. Sams chips in for eagle. Then.......... Howell makes a 35 footer for eagle to win. Brickyard is the best!

@23mk77 @bowtiedgerman There are far fewer barriers to entry in golf now, than ever. You’re right about new courses not being built but we don’t necessarily need more venues, short courses, Par 3s, and new age putting courses should be promoted more at the entry level. Makes it less daunting.

@Batazzivt @bowtiedgerman They just haven’t built almost any new golf courses in a lot of places in 15 years or more. It’s not booming or growing at the bottom at all just elite clubs.

Private clubs/country clubs are going to become a significant scene over the coming years Spending the day at a club, it hits you like a bus how juxtaposed it is to just sitting out in public. Cortisol levels near zero, everyone is pleasant, poor behavior not tolerated
