@SandyofSuffolk @DPJHodges I have no idea whether this candidate has anything to be embarrassed about or not. Let’s say he hasn’t. However, how compromised would candidates in other elections have to be for Reform supporters to start caring? Same question applies to candidates of other parties of course.

Yesterday's Britain, A Better Britain.
In a time when millions of Britons are struggling to make ends meet, is the sight of someone wearing a diamond and sapphire-encrusted crown on their head, and dressed in an ermine robe, really relevant in Britain today?

@archer_rs I’d laugh like a badger if the MP bit turned out to be true, but I doubt if will.

This may well be the funniest development of the day. It seems some new Reform Party councillors and possibly one MP are planning to defect to the Conservatives. #JudeanPopularFront

@apsamuelson @PaulEmbery Leaving aside the question of whether Brexit was a good thing or not (something that will be chewed over for decades) it is certainly true that since the referendum in 2016 there has been an undesirable turnover of PMs.

Anti-car policies also slow down buses, so the bus lobby is now calling for priority measures, which will further penalise motorists. This is a classic scam where deliberately created problems require "solutions" that accelerate a predetermined agenda. route-one.net/news/bus-speed…

@RichardWellings @DavidJaques10 Ok, I live in London but 3 routes at 2 different stops both less than 5 mins walk away and an app that tells me when the next bus is due. Different in rural areas, of course.

@DavidJaques10 Buses aren't efficient because passengers have to walk to the stops and then wait around. They may be a "last resort" in big cities, where, for historical reasons or due to planning controls, there are severe space constraints.

@hmv666 @RichardWellings Quite. My satirical point, if I can dignify it as such, is that it is not only motorists who pay tax and that the interests of others need to be balanced with theirs. Is too far fetched to think that the pro-car lobby really would rip up pavements if they could? Probably - just.

Motorists pay vast amounts of tax to use the roads but are increasingly banned from significant parts of the network, while cyclists and heavily subsidised buses are allowed through. Typical socialism, where those paying the most get the least in return. cambridge-news.co.uk/news/news-opin…

@cmpd_date @YesterdaysBrit1 I’ve found the rat hole very convenient, using both Eurostar and Shuttle. However, no doubt some think it should never have been built, and perhaps even a few who think it should be closed even now.

Dover Western docks in its prime. All of those tracks have long since been ripped up, and it's now a shadow of its former self.

@McWhirterAlex @YesterdaysBrit1 Fair enough. I haven’t been to or through Dover since the tunnel opened. It struck me as a rather dismal place. An awful lot of money passed through but not much stayed.

@Bathonian581 @YesterdaysBrit1 Western Docks were primarily for foot pax and that traffic (using today's car ferries has almost all disappeared). Car ferries operated from Eastern Docks.
